Mold Testing Methods
Understand standard mold testing methods to evaluate product antimicrobial performance.
Common Testing Standards
- AATCC 30: Textile antifungal test
- ASTM G21: Synthetic polymer material antifungal test
- ISO 846: Plastics evaluation under fungal and bacterial action
- JIS Z 2911: Japanese Industrial Standard for electrical/electronic products
Testing Process
- Sample Preparation: Prepare standard size test samples
- Inoculation: Inoculate standard mold spores on sample surface
- Cultivation: Cultivate for 28 days under suitable conditions
- Evaluation: Rate based on mold growth condition
Rating Standards
- Grade 0: No mold growth (Excellent)
- Grade 1: Minimal growth, coverage <10% (Good)
- Grade 2: Light growth, coverage 10-30% (Pass)
- Grade 3: Moderate growth, coverage 30-60% (Fail)
- Grade 4: Severe growth, coverage >60% (Fail)
Third-party Testing Labs
Recommend using qualified third-party testing labs such as SGS, Intertek, BV for antimicrobial testing.
